What began as volunteering as a teacher in 2024 became a journey of purpose, growth, and impact. From helping a struggling Class 10 student pass Mathematics to serving as Growth & Strategy Advisor, this is my story with Boddhi Tree Foundation.

When I first joined Boddhi Tree Foundation in 2024, I came with a simple intention – to teach. I didn’t imagine that what began as a few hours in a classroom would become one of the most meaningful journeys of my life.

As a volunteer teacher, my role was straightforward: help children learn, encourage them to dream, and make every class count. Like many first-time volunteers, I wondered whether the few hours I spent each week could truly make a difference.

One student, however, answered that question for me. She was preparing for her Class 10 board examinations and struggled deeply with Mathematics. Concepts that many students took for granted felt overwhelming to her. She went back to the basics – working through one concept at a time and celebrating small improvements. This reminded her that progress mattered more than perfection.

When the board examination results were announced, she had passed Mathematics.

For many, it might have seemed like just another passing score. But for her, it represented months of determination, resilience, and belief in herself. For me, it was a reminder that education isn’t measured only in marks; it’s measured in confidence restored and possibilities reopened. As I spent more time with the organization, I realized that Boddhi Tree Foundation was about much more than education. It was about creating opportunities where there were few, nurturing confidence where it had been lost, and building a community that believed every child deserved a chance to succeed.

One of the biggest reasons I stayed was the unwavering commitment of our founder, Deepak Nanda. His dedication was evident in the consistency with which he showed up for every child, every volunteer, and every challenge. Watching that level of commitment inspired me to ask how I could contribute beyond the classroom.

Over time, I found myself taking on new responsibilities. What started with teaching gradually expanded into supporting fundraising initiatives, strengthening our digital presence, developing growth strategies, building partnerships, and contributing to the Foundation’s long-term vision. None of these responsibilities arrived overnight. They grew naturally from a shared belief in the mission and a willingness to step forward whenever there was an opportunity to help.

Perhaps what has made this journey truly special is the culture at Boddhi Tree Foundation. It has never felt like simply volunteering for an organization. It has always felt like being part of a family – one that celebrates every milestone, supports one another through setbacks, and remains united by a common purpose.

Today, I serve as the Growth & Strategy Advisor at Boddhi Tree Foundation. While my responsibilities have evolved significantly since my first day as a volunteer teacher, the reason I continue to be here remains unchanged: the belief that meaningful change is built through consistency, compassion, and people who care enough to keep showing up.

As Boddhi Tree Foundation celebrates ten years of impact, I feel grateful to have been part of a small chapter of its journey. Looking back, I realize that I joined to teach Mathematics – but I stayed because of the people, the purpose, and the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to build a brighter future. Here’s to the next decade of empowering children, strengthening communities, and creating many more stories of hope, one student at a time.
